For many years it was thought that anyone over sixty was over-the-hill. It was thought that there was nothing for them to do but sit and wait for life to happen around them. They were mostly ignored when things were planned and such a thing as Senior Entertainment was unheard of.
The fact that seniors have finally come into their own, as far as entertainment goes, has been shown through the establishment of Senior Citizen Centers throughout the country. These centers provide hours of entertainment for this segment of our society. The amount of entertainment in these centers is unbelievable.
Another avenue of entertainment for seniors is the ability to enjoy the latest movies at the theaters at discounted prices. This has been of great benefit to those who have a lower income. By attending these movies they are able to see, enjoy, and discuss the latest pictures.
Entertainment for seniors is also available at any live theater presentation again at a reduced price. Being able to attend a performance with a friend or group of friends is an excellent experience for those involved. The experience provides discussion material for several weeks and keeps them current with the theatre trends across the nation.
On occasion they are entertained by others in their group. Skits and other presentations are always welcomed when done by those of similar age. Seeing someone who has never had much to say get up and make jokes brings a lot of laughter.
Entertainment is important for anyone and especially so for older people. One never knows the circumstances people go through as they age. They may be lonely, low on income, or worried about other family members. When this is so, entertainment may be what keeps them going and gives them hope.
"Laughter is the blood of life" is an old saying and it is certainly true with senior citizens. Many of them work very hard to help others healthy and happy and laughter may be what makes their day complete. Senior Entertainment brings joy and gladness to those who have given so much for others and is now embraced by the growing group called senior citizens.
